A secret little book…

Today, I decided to take this month’s theme of Jump into a different direction. I’m choosing to interpret it as doing things outside of my comfort zone, so today I’m going to say for the first time here, that I love to draw. I constantly doubt my skills, but I want to grow them till I stop doubting so much.

I would love to find a way to merge photography and drawing, so far I have done so somewhat in my website, every element of which I entirely hand drew, but I’m constantly looking for new ideas.

For now I just carry a private little sketchbook and try to draw any little things around me that catch my eye.

These are a couple pages from lunch breaks, first thing in the morning, and a combination thereof.

So now you know, my little secret is out.

Phew!

  1. Wow! That is a great secret and talent to have! I stamp as I can’t draw. Your drawings are fabulous. I am thinking you could turn them into cards for people or copy a print and make notecards.. Susan Branch the artist does drawings and writings together in book form…She is one of my favorites.

    • Thank you so much!

I just looked up Susan Branch, her drawings are wonderful! I can’t tell you how much I’d like to make notecards, I’ve wanted to do this with my photos for a while, I never thought of using my drawings that way though… cogs are whirring… yay! Also, I looked at your stamp-work, it’s absolutely gorgeous! I’d buy any of those cards in a second.

  2. I love what you’ve posted here. They remind me of the books I have read from childhood — all those images that seem to echo with loveliness and brightness. Looking at your art suddenly reminds me of the good old days. Thank you :)

    • Ahh, such a lovely thing to say! Lately I’ve been re-reading my old favourites from when I was younger and looking carefully at all the pictures I remember so clearly, they warm my heart as much as when I first read them. So this is a lovely comparison to hear, thank you :)
